So for years I’ve been the most amateurish of amateurs when it comes to photography, relying on a simple Sony point-and-shoot to capture images of my travels and life events. Along the way I’ve acquired a simple-but-pure love for photography, and I’ve developed a desire to learn more about it and to take better and more advanced photos. So I finally took the plunge and bought a grown-up camera. I read a lot of reviews and articles, and eventually chose the Canon EOS Rebel XSi based on a number of factors, the most important of which was a great balance of ease of use, advanced features, and photo quality.
I’ve literally read nothing about the operation of the camera yet, and have basically zilch knowledge when it comes to the finer points of photography. But I couldn’t resist taking my new baby out for a quick spin after work yesterday, and used my immediate surroundings of a beautiful campus as my trial run. I’ve got a lot of reading to do and a lot to learn, but I’m encouraged by early results, and am looking forward to applying some actual technical skill to this process at some point. Enjoy!
